Job Duties:
Lettuce harvesters to perform the following duties: Harvest lettuce; Cut and pack lettuce while walking behind the slow-moving lettuce harvesting machine. Worker bends over to ground level to cut lettuce in which excess leaves may be trimmed. Sort and cut lettuce from the stem/root according to size and quality. The lettuce gets bagged and placed on P.V.C pipe. Places work aids such as buckets and tie wires in assigned area. Tie pre-bagged lettuce and place in boxes. Employees push cartons up about 14 inches on an inclined rolling conveyor so that they can be taken up to an elevator. The box weighs roughly 25-40 lbs. Close and staple finished cartons and place in stacks up to 7 high. Form and load full cartons onto pallet.

Special Requirements:
Minimum Job Requirements: 3 months of experience in lettuce harvest required. Workers must stand, sit, crouch, bend, reach, lift and carry items weighing up to 50 pounds in the course of performing required activities. Must have use of both hands. Must be able to use hand tools, including cutting knives. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, illegal drugs, alcohol or weapons of any sort in the housing or working fields.
