The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Job Duties:
Performs duties like: Maintain and monitor water tanks, wells and dug outs for cattle water system and add new tanks to the system. Help with calving 480 cows in April to the end of May. Feeding hay and mineral, tagging new born calves, recording sex, vaccinate, and monitor general health of calf. Haul or chase 480 cow- calf pairs to pastures in June and assist with processing the calves with de-wormer and second vaccinations. In July, semen test bulls and do breeding soundness check. Monitor cow herd and haul bulls to pasture for breeding. Cut, bale and haul hay to ranch hay pens (roughly 2200 large round bales) Maintain and monitor irrigation system for hay crop. Maintain haying equipment and repair as needed. Maintain 3 different cattle working corrals by fixing bent or broken panels, gate latches and replacing posts. In August and September, weed control of noxious species in the pastures and around buildings, monitor cattle health check daily. Maintain water system. Haul mineral and salt to 480 cow-calf pairs. September/November gather 480 pairs from pastures for final vaccinations and prepare for marketing by sorting and loading on trucks. Put mother cows back to pasture/lot. Special Requirements:
Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Employer requires criminal background check post-hire at employers' expense due to the presence of children on the farm. Failure to pass criminal background check will result in termination of employment. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Frequent stooping is required. Repetitive movements is required. Wage rate may increase with verifiable experience. Employer may reward exceptional work with monetary or other benefits in addition to those listed here in his sole discretion.
