Job Duties:

Possible weekend/holiday work. Duties may include: Operate various tractors and farm equipment to till soil; work ground; prepare and maintain land; and plant, irrigate, cultivate, harvest, and transport crops to elevator or storage area. Equipment that workers may be required to operate includes, but is not limited to, tractors with various implements, combines, skid loader, pay loader, and work trucks. Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, or manure, and other materials to condition soil, using wheelbarrows, tractors, carts and shovels. Duties also include performing general upkeep, repairs and/or clean-up of storage sheds, buildings, and all farm equipment; ensuring operational areas are organized and well maintained; using hand tools and equipment to repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles and agricultural equipment; regularly servicing equipment; loading seed into planters; changing combine cutting heads; working on irrigators; and picking rocks as needed. Livestock duties to be performed will be in seasonal nature related to the fattening of the livestock to go to market. Duties may include: Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions, examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain, clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food, & other related Farm Worker activities as per SOC/OES 45-2093 (onetonline.org).

Special Requirements:

Must be 18 years of age. Worker has 3 days from date of hire to show proof of legal authorization to work in the United States. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. All applicants must be able, willing, qualified to perform work described and must be available for the entire period specified. Variable weather conditions may apply. Worker must be able to obtain a valid Driver's License in the State of South Dakota within 2 weeks of reporting to work.
