Job Duties:
Workers must follow direction from the supervisor in charge. Sod Planting: Tree/weed removal, picking up scrap sod from fields. Using the following hand tools: wrenches, ratchets, sockets, screw drivers, hammer/nails, pitchforks, shovels, rakes, string trimmer, ratchet straps, and machetes. Workers may use the following machines: fuel pumps, air compressors, grinders and forklift. Sod Harvesting: Assisting the Sod Harvesting Manager with performing a second level of quality control. Sod Stacking (by hand): Hand stacking sod on back of the tractor. On days when there are large orders or the mechanical sod stacker breaks down, manual sod stackers are used. Taking slabs and manually stacking them on a pallet. Sod Loading (by forklift): Sod is harvested by hand or sod harvester and stacked on a pallet in the field. Customers come out to the field and workers take pallets of sod and load them on a customer’s trailer or rear of truck. Slabs of sod weigh about 3-8 pounds each. Must be able to transfer 160 slabs of sod by hand to a pallet. Workers may install Sod. May transport workers to fields and grocery store.

Special Requirements:
Workers must have three (3) months experience in planting and harvesting sod. A valid drivers' license is required to transport workers to fields and grocery store. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. Most of the workday is spent in the fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humidity, and other natural elements. Due to the nature of the business and equipment used, repetitive movement such as pushing, pulling, sitting, walking, stooping, bending (from waist), and lifting, while performing required job duties, Workers must be fit. Lifting requirement may have a range of 5 - 40 lbs. Workers will be paid a production rate of $1.75 per pallet of Sod and should complete 8 pallets per hour @
