- Job Duties:
- Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as wheat, hay; Load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Clean work areas; Feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies; Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures; Monitor animals for illness, injury, or disease; Mark livestock to identify ownership and grade using brands, tags; Segregate animals according to weight, age, color, or physical condition; Move equipment or livestock from one location to another; Perform duties related to calving; Wean calves, monitor calf health daily; Pull sick cattle and administer medicine as necessary; Sort calves to be taken to market and sold; Break ice in stock tanks during winter; Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, corrals, yards, water strictures, feed bunks, and fences; Push manure into piles; Clean stalls and pens during winter months; Drive farm vehicle.
