Job Duties:
Watermelon-Duties may vary from time-to-time. Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Perform manual labor. Workers will harvest, cultivate, cut, pick, and field pack watermelons in the field. Use hand tools such as shears and knives. Duties also include tying, loading, and unloading stakes, cleaning, loading, and unloading harvested products. Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh and count products and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that field packing specifications are met. Workers must perform manual labor to pull plastic from the field and load onto a trailer. Removal of irrigation equipment. Clean and maintain work area and all tools and containers. Vegetables Workers will harvest vegetables such as Tomatoes, bell peppers, cantaloupe, and cucumber, as well as other vegetables and fruits. Shovel, haul, spread manure, dig holes, ditches, and trenches. Manually plant, cultivate, harvest, count, load and unload vegetables, horticultural specialties, and field crops. Workers will field pick and field pack vegetables in the field. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include, applying fertilizers, transplanting, pulling weeds, raking, cleaning around shed area, thinning or pruning crops, cleaning, grading, and packing harvested product. Workers will also do staking, tying, loading, removing, and unloading of stakes. May repair fences and farm buildings and participate in irrigation activities. Duties will also include operating forklift, assisting with minor repairs and maintenance, and pulling weeds.

Must be 18 years or older. The employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. Most of the workday is spent on ones feet and outdoors. Workers may stand in one place for any period of time. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift 10-100lbs. Work is performed in outdoor agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold and other natural elements. Workers must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties.
