The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Job Duties:
Perform manual labor. Workers will clear ground of rocks, sticks, and roots by hand and clear brush and trees. Manually weeding fields by hand/using hand tools & other farm tools. Workers will harvest, cut, and pick peppers. Use hand tools such as shovels, trowels, hoes, tampers, pruning hooks, shears, and knives. Duties may include pulling weeds, raking, and cleaning around shed area.

The employer may conduct a criminal background check on all new applicants for employment. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicated with supervisor when needed. Lifting requirement may have a range of 5-60 lbs. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. Workers should expect periods of little/no work and hours/days will vary due to weather conditions beyond the employers control and daily hours may be extended due to planting and harvesting demands. Most of the workday is spent in agricultural fields and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humidity, and other natural elements.
