- 45-2091.00 Agricultural Equipment Operators: Workers will operate tractors, flatbed trucks, and buses to transport crops, supplies, tools and farm workers. Workers will drive flatbed farm trucks to take the crops from the field to the packing shed. Workers must use caution when moving farm equipment and vehicles to ensure workers, plants, buildings, and other farm property are protected. Any worker hired for this job duty must follow all safety precautions and procedures and have the appropriate license.
Properly licenses workers may drive trucks or vehicles to transport workers. Properly experienced workers may be requested to be team leaders.
Worker must possess the physical strength and endurance (ability to continue or last) to repeat the fertilizer Application though out the workday, working quickly and skillfully to perform activities assigned during that activity. Workers must work at a sustained (continuing for an extended period of time without interruption), vigorous pace (quick and steady) and make bona fide efforts (made in earnest intent) to work efficiently (performing or functions in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort) and consistently (same way for a long time) that are reasonable under the climatic and other working conditions, Workers may not leave trash, or other discarded items in work areas or vehicles but must dispose of such items in provided receptacles. Workers must wash hands with soap and water after all bathroom and meal breaks. Allergies to varieties of ragweed, goldenrod, insecticides, related agricultural chemicals, etc., may affect worker’s ability to perform the work described herein.
Feed and water livestock; and monitor food and water supplies. Drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals. Examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain. Mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions. Inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences. Move equipment, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts. Clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, and/or pumps. Herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures. May be required to separate/sort livestock according to size and weight. Workers may be required to apply ID tags
Field Fertilizer Application: Workers will perform various duties associated with applying fertilizers to fields, including the loading and unloading of the fertilizer material. Workers will also assist with the pumping of the liquid fertilizer Workers will be given a brief demonstration of what the exact duties are. This could include hooking up pumps and blowers to farm equipment and mixing the fertilizer. Workers will be preparing the worksite for application which would include laying hose on the ground with tractor, setting pumps in fertilizer pits to prepare to pump the fertilizer onto the fields. During application workers, will monitor pumps throughout the pumping process. When application is complete the workers will pick up equipment, clean-up work site and prepare to move equipment to the next location. Throughout the job, workers are responsible for maintaining equipment.
