IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING WAGES FOR TEMPORARY AGRICULTURAL JOBS

Job Duties:
Additional Information Regarding Job Qualifications/Requirements: Happy Hollow Farm, LLC engages in a unique form of direct-to-consumer produce distribution (150 member Community Supported Agriculture, CSA, Program), as well as a year round weekly farmers market, which requires of employees a knowledge and judgment level significantly above industry standards. This knowledge and judgement can only come from experience working in the pack house. For example, employees will be required to sort, clean/wash and pack a number of different varieties of fresh greens within a narrow range of quality standards (unlike conventional lettuce for example, which is picked and shipped out of the field). They will be required to pack highly perishable varieties of numerous different types of salad crops - not in the conventional 24 count leaf lettuce box - but in boxes of mixed produce where they can easily be crushed or otherwise damaged. They will spend large amounts of time grading & sorting numerous different types of root & storage crops for cosmetic and structural defects and suitability for delivery to very high end customers. This skill alone can take weeks to develop, even for an employee who has months or even years of experience.
