Job Duties:
Crops: Evergreen Seedlings, Hardwood Seedlings General duties: Duties will be sporadic all through the contract due to various crops and crop conditions. Duties will/could include Lifting/packing/loading of crops, cleaning of vehicles/tractors/equipment/ buildings/storage areas using cleaning equipment/sprayers/wash buckets/cleaning chemicals, moving irrigation pipe/risers/valves to and from field to storage piles, assisting with irrigation leak repair (moving dirt and supplies as needed), Repairing fence if and as needed (barbed wire, and hog panel fencing on t-post), Inventory of seeding crops using wire racks to count seedlings and document on paper, cleaning/removing limbs/ leaves/ debris, cutting/removing fallen tree limbs, mowing/ bush hogging/ weed eating, going through each field to clean up left over seedlings/trash as needed, weeding of crops/field areas by hand using buckets (walking up and down beds and pulling weeds as needed), installing/laying out/stretching/regular checks of bird netting, install rebar and string, Assist with planting, help with seed bags on back of planter, keeping hopper full of seeds, assisting transporting seeds, seeding inventory, assisting with various cultural practices, spraying pesticides using back pack sprayer, assisting with discing, chisel plowing, cultivation activities, undercutting/lateral pruning, repair fences, and remove/install irrigation pipe/valves/risers/main lines. Bare Root Products: Workers will handle a variety of bare root products. Workers will plant, cultivate, harvest, and prepare products for shipment. Bare root products start from liners. When products reach the appropriate size, and at their supervisor’s instruction, products will be budded to promote growth. When products reach approximately 3-5 feet in height, workers will be required to harvest the products by digging trees and shrubs, placing on pallets and transferring to storage for shipment. Shrubs and some trees are harvested for resale when they reach approximately 1-3 inches in height. Farm, and Shed Sanitation- All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, and other farm sanitation duties. Workers will sweep up debris, dirt, and trash. This material will be removed using wheelbarrows, tractor buckets and other containers. Workers may be required to power shed, and farm equipment. Workers will make repairs to farm buildings, fences, and other structures according to supervisors’ instructions. Farm Equipment Operation: Workers will be required to operate tractors, trucks, and other farm equipment during field operations as an incidental activity in the production of crops. Workers will use mechanical harvesting equipment. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of tractor. Workers must notify supervisor of any mechanical issues. Workers will be required to operate tractors according to instructions and in a manner, that protects the operator, other workers, trees, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey operating and safety instructions may result in termination.

Special Requirements:
Must have three months experience working in agriculture/horticulture. Applicants must be able to furnish affirmative job references from recent employers operating comparable operations establishing acceptable previous experience. Must be physically able to meet and perform all job specifications stated in job order. Must be able to work in the hot humid weather for extended periods of time. Workers are subject to random drug testing at no cost to the employee. Failing or refusing a drug test will result in immediate termination.
