- Job Duties:
- Working with both the Wine Makers and Cellar Master, the applicant will be working in the vineyards assisting with cane cutting, canopy management, erosion control, fertilizing, fruit thinning, harvesting and/or sorting of wine grapes, hoeing, leafing, perimeter maintenance, planting, pruning, root removal, shoot tipping, staking, suckering, training, and tying. Using a long-handled grape hoe (much sharper than a traditional gardening hoe) the worker will weed vineyard paths and move loose soil to create clean rows along the grapevines. Castello di Amorosa will abide by all rules and requirements set forth in Title 8, section 3437, 3456(b-c); and Section 3203 IIPP. Working with the Cellar Master the applicant will also be assisting with wine analyses. The applicant will be given the opportunity to apply any prior wine industry training, knowledge or experience he/she may have in other areas within the winery as needed.
Employment will be guaranteed for a total number of hours equal to at least 75% of the working days in the contract period, excludes federal worker's holidays, and the worker will not work on Saturdays.
The employer will keep accurate records of the number of hours offered each day and the hours actually worked each day by the worker. If the worker will be offered more than the specified hours of work on a single workday, the worker will not be required to work for more than the number of hours specified in the job order for a workday, or on the worker's Sabbath or Federal holidays. If during the total period of the employment contract the employer offers the U.S. or H-2A worker less employment than required by this paragraph (i)(1), the employer shall pay the worker the amount he or she would have earned if he or she had actually worked for the number of days guaranteed.
