Job Duties:
The workers will assist the sein/hauling supervisor with catfish harvesting. Must be able to assist with fish hatchery operations. Position primarily involves relatively skilled, hand-on farm work required for the commercial production of live catfish for sale to other producers/farms or to processors throughout all assigned job tasks. Operate boats and/or tractor on or near fishponds to position sein nets and sock nets used to capture fish. Operate hydraulic loader crane attachments to move fish from nets to live tanks on board a tractor-trailer. Guide movement of fish from crane scoop attachment to live tanks, positioning the scoop and releasing fish from the scoop into live tanks. Sample, count, and weigh fish. Monitor and observe fish characteristics such as length, weight, behavior, growth, survival, and/or signs of parasites, diseases, or pathogens, while performing other job duties. Monitor and maintain pond water oxygen levels and pond water quality levels including the performance of standard water quality tests during the day and night shift hours. Support aquaculture fish rearing activities including feeding fish, making determinations about the amount of feed and type of feed and which ponds to feed. Moving fish from pond to pond on the farm. Pond repair and maintenance. Receive ingredients for feed, mix and prepare feed for fish. Seine, determine size in pounds per thousand, load, transport, and unload fingerlings into ponds, feed fingerlings, monitor and maintain water quality and fingerling health, protect fingerlings from predatory birds. Seine, load, transport, and unload fish for further processing. Requires workers to operate and maintain tractor trailers, pickups, loader tractors, feed tractors, tractors, Use oxygen meters, aerators, aerator control panels, cellphones, oxygen computers, oxygen buoys, seine reels, seines, live cars, boats with outboard motors, pumps. Repair roads and levees, cut grass, spray weeds, pick up trash and debris and establish and maintain drainage systems. Requires workers to operate and maintain tractor trailers, pickups, tractors, scrapers, box blades, mowers, and other farm equipment. Workers will use a wide variety of tools including, but not limited to seins, holding nets, rebar stakes, small tractors, shovels, welders, bulldozers, excavators, hand tools, forklifts, oxygen checkers, mowers, catfish loader tractor, wadders, gloves, feeders, boats, ATV's, and bird deterrent equipment. Additional work will include cleaning work areas and sheds, removing debris from farm area, bird control, etc. General fish farm labor. Qualified workers may drive the company's vehicles to transport workers to worksite and grocery store.

Applicants must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct background checks to all new applicants at owner's expense. The hours of work will vary due to weather conditions. All tools, supplies, and equipment will be provided at no cost to the worker. The job is outdoors, hot and cold temperatures. While harvesting catfish, workers will be working in 4 to 6 feet of water. Workers will be exposed to varying water temperature which can range. Exposure to water temperatures can be below 50 degrees F or lower during the early months to 69 to 78 degrees F or higher in later months. Most of the workday is spent in aquacultural settings and involves exposure to sun, wind, rain, soil, mud, dust, heat, cold, humid, and other natural elements. Workers may stand in one place for long periods of time and must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach and lift up to 60 pounds while performing their required job duties.
