IMPORTANT NOTICE REGARDING WAGES FOR TEMPORARY AGRICULTURAL JOBS
The Department of Labor recently announced new minimum wage rates, called Adverse Effect Wage Rates (AEWRs), that employers must offer and pay, at the time work is performed, to nonimmigrant H-2A workers and workers in corresponding employment beginning on the effective date of the new wage rates. Workers will fill pots, hanging baskets, and flats with soil using hand or gardening tools or by a machine. Transplant, tag product, fertilize and move plants in pots, hanging baskets and flats in a greenhouse. Load and unload products from a truck or rack outside of greenhouse near a loading dock. Lay tarps, drip lines and insert drip lines into pots and hanging baskets. Hand and gardening tools are used to tack down tarp. Install irrigation system in greenhouse facility. Fix greenhouse equipment and irrigation/water drip lines as needed. Grease and fix flat tires on retail carts and wholesale racks, as needed. Workers may be trained to weld in order to weld damaged racks as needed.
Clean up and maintain a clean facility inside and outside greenhouse. Cut grass with garden tools or mower, pull weeds inside/outside of greenhouse facility.
Driver's license preferred for local market deliveries. Forklift experience preferred but will train. Workers must be able to lift to 50 lbs. Will frequently bend, stoop, and stand for long periods. Will be exposed to extensive pushing, pulling, walking and repetitive movements. Must have 3 months verifiable work experience in a wholesale/commercial greenhouse or in nursery production.
