Job Duties:

Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties found in SOC Code 45-2091 Agricultural Equipment Operator such as: Mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases; Observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions; Manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on field bound machinery; Operate or tend equipment used in agricultural production (much of which is equipped with GPS) such as tractor, grain drill, grain cart to cultivate, plant, fertilize, water, harvest, store crops such as rice, soybeans; Adjust farm machinery and notify supervisors when machinery malfunctions; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Attach farm implements such as plows, discs, planters, harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools; Operate towed machines such as seed drills, carts, or spreaders to plant, fertilize, dust, store, spray crops; Irrigate soil using portable pipes or ditch systems, and maintain ditches or pipes and pumps; Physically set rice gates.
