Job Duties:
Employees will assist in crop production and the improvement and maintenance of the farm’s infrastructure. They will be required to perform all duties that management deems necessary to accomplishing these goals, but not limited to, the following: Employees will operate a range of large scale, late model agricultural equipment to assist in crop production. This equipment includes, but is not limited to, tractors, self-propelled sprayers, combines, and cotton pickers. Tractors will be attached to planters, grain drills, bed conditioners, bedders, bedder-rollers, watering plows, water furrow plows, breaking plows, disks, high-speed disks, diamond disc harrows, lay-by rigs, poly-pipe rigs, box blades, grader blades, land planes, dirt buckets, grain carts, grain trailers and stalk shredders. Employees will also operate backhoes, excavators, and bulldozers to help maintain and improve the farm’s infrastructure. Employee duties will also include laying and retrieving collapsible poly-tubing to be used in irrigating the crop during the growing season. Employees will help to service and maintain center pivot systems used to irrigate the crop during the growing season. Employees will drive farm pick-up trucks pulling water trailers to fill up self-propelled sprayers. Employees will be responsible for cleaning and servicing all equipment. Employees will assist in minor repairs of equipment. Employees will keep all inventory and equipment stored in the farm shop organized and orderly. Employees with more experience, or more familiarity with particular farm equipment or tasks, may be asked to train, mentor, or instruct employees with less experience or familiarity. Employees will not supervise or manage other employees. Employees will not work in or at the farm’s grain bin area except as occasionally and incidentally to their other duties. A bonus may be possible depending on experience and merit at the end of the crop year.

Special Requirements:
Job requires having or being able to obtain a valid MS drivers license within 30 days of hire or arriving on the farm. 3 months experience within the last year operating farm equipment. Applicants must have the ability to read and write, perform basic math skills, be able to manage tasks, work well with others, and remember to follow directions. Employees must be able to meet the significant physical demands and long hours required of the work. Job will require periods when workers may be exposed to extensive sitting or walking. Employees must be able to demonstrate basic mastery of a John Deere tractors guidance system within 30 days of hire or arriving on the farm. Employees must pass an initial employment drug test, alcohol test, and criminal background check within 5 days of hire or arriving on the farm. Random drug testing, alcohol testing, and criminal background checks will occur throughout the contract period at the employers expense.
