- Job Duties:
- Hours are variable Monday-Saturday, 6:30am to 6:30pm (occasional Sundays) with one (1) hour for lunch. Duties include planting, harvesting, tilling, clearing, watering, fertilizing, spray drainage, mowing and bale transport in tractors and on farm property for rice, cotton, soybeans, corn and wheat. Drive tractor on worksite. Must be able to lift 50 pounds. Inspect, repair, clean and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
