- Job Duties:
- 7:30 am to 4:30 pm, with one hour, unpaid, lunch. Manual planting, harvesting shrubs, ornamental plants, trees, flowers. Spray, pull, load and unload plants, use hand tools (shovels, trowels, sprayer, hoes, pruning hooks, shears, etc.). Duties include tilling soil, mulching, transplanting, weeding, thinning, pruning, grading, sorting and packing. Applying pesticides and fertilizer to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases. Work in nursery facility. Irrigation and cultivation duties. Minor maintenance and operation of farm equipment. Farm, field and shed sanitation duties. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, fertilizers, pesticides, insect sprays and related chemicals, etc., may affect workers' ability to perform the job. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds. Work is done in all kinds of weather from extreme heat to cold and rain. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions, condition of crop, or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
