Job Duties:
VARIETY TOMATO HARVEST: Worker must harvest to quality standards which change depending on weather and market conditions as directed by Supervisor. Worker will move productively along row from start to end, stoop and bend to pick mature tomatoes by gently removing them from the vine, taking care not to damage the vine, and gently placing into plastic crates or cardboard box. Worker will fill crate to the rim, but not overfill, allowing another crate to be stacked on top without bruising tomatoes. Worker will carry and load the full crates onto a nearby truck, trailer or wagon. Harvested vine-ripe tomatoes must be free of bruises, have color that is from a light yellow to a firm red, be free of surface defects and have no stems attached. Worker may be directed to pick tomatoes of various quality standards for various market needs. Vine-ripe tomatoes that are defective or unsaleable will be picked and discarded onto the ground as directed by Supervisor. Worker must be able to pick up and carry 40 pounds. Workers may work individually or as a team. Workers will help others finish harvesting their assigned rows as instructed by Supervisor. All workers are responsible for overall quality for team-picked product. At any given time, some workers will be picking, some may drive tractor, and some workers will work from wagon, be handed full buckets, and carefully place product into larger containers. Worker may be required to wash or rinse dirt and mud off of tomatoes. Worker may use hose to wash, rinse or clean as directed by Supervisor. Pay will be hourly. VARIETY SQUASH HARVEST: Worker will hand harvest winter squash. Worker will walk down rows of squash and bend down and cut the stem of the squash from the plant leaving at least a 1/4” stem using a hand clipper, knife or hands. Worker will harvest according to grade, size, shape, color and degree of maturity. Worker will place squash into green hamper or black crate, and then carefully empty hamper or crate into larger wood/plastic/cardboard bin, or worker may be directed to place harvested squash directly into bins. Worker may be required to lift product above head to place in bin, trailer or truck. Worker may be required to wipe exterior dirt from squash using their hand or cloth before placing into bin. Care must be exercised at all times to prevent breaking off of stems, denting, bending, bruising and skinning the squash flesh. Worker is required to walk, bend, stoop, kneel and stand for the harvest of these crops. Harvest conditions vary based on weather patterns and market demands. Worker must be able to lift 60 pounds. Worker may work individually or as part of a team. Workers will help others finish their rows as instructed by Supervisor. All workers are responsible for overall quality of team- picked product. At any given time, some workers will be picking, some may drive tractor, and some workers will work from wagon, be handed full buckets, and carefully place product into larger containers. Worker may be required to wash or rinse dirt and mud off of vegetables. Worker may use hose to wash, rinse or clean as directed by Supervisor.

Job requires worker to complete tasks in General farm labor, planting and harvest of sweet corn, cabbage, cabbage sprouts, squash, (butternut, acorn, spaghetti), peppers (all varieties), cherry & regular tomatoes, pumpkins, and Greenhouse Labor. Experience Requirement: 2 verifiable months of commercial hand harvest with a vegetable base required. Applicants must furnish job references from recent employers within the past 3 years establishing acceptable prior experience. Drug Testing done at employers expense and not utilized as a preemployment tool.
