Job Duties:

This position is an irrigation service laborer position done on a farm for a farmer. Workers will report to farms, where they will inspect existing irrigation systems and make repairs as necessary. Workers will inspect, diagnose, recondition, and repair irrigation equipment and document pertinent information. Workers will need to perform basic computing functions, including the use of basic Microsoft Office products, internet searches, and all other company programs. Workers must maintain a clean work area including proper care for all shop tools, machines, supplied work trucks, and all agricultural equipment used on a day-to-day basis. Workers must be willing to attend company-sponsored training to ensure an advanced technical and product knowledge of all systems installed and maintained in the field. Workers are expected to operate in a professional and efficient manner at all hours, including interactions with fellow employees, customers, and supervisors. Workers must follow all safety rules and regulations while performing work assignments and adhere to all policies and procedures as specified in company manuals and as directed in the employee handbook. Workers will also operate agricultural equipment such as tractors, excavators, and forklifts to load and unload products and apply crop-protectant products and ammonia. During downtime, workers must assist in regular facility/equipment maintenance, keep good accounts of inventory, and report when items need replenishing. Workers will move inventory as necessary to make it accessible for use in the field. Follows GROWMARK’s Code of Conduct and Corporate Compliance Program, Environmental Health and Safety, OSHA and DOT policies and procedures, as they apply. GROWMARK will comply with the Illinois Paid Leave for All Workers Act by offering temporary and seasonal workers to earn paid time off (PTO) at one hour for every 40 hours worked, with a maximum of 40 hours per year. Employees must work a minimum of 90 days before receiving their accrued time. Paid time off will not be advanced.

Special Requirements:

Minimum of 3 months of experience is required. Certified license is required. Must be able to obtain a driver's license within 30 days of hire. Lift and carry items weighing up to 60 pounds. The worker will be exposed to extreme temperatures. Extensive sitting is required. Repetitive movements is required. Overtime and taking holiday is mandatory. Drug screen and criminal background check required post hire at no cost to the employee due to the liability of driving expensive equipment and children present on the farms.
