- Job Duties:
- Workers will assist with the following job duties:
• Preparation, digging, and bundling trees in the field.
• Maintenance of a wide variety of plants including staking, tying, training, pruning, trimming, spacing, approved culling, weeding, and debris removal.
• Hand-weeding potted plants and hoeing field plantings.
• Assist in seasonal protection to cover and uncover houses.
• Fill containers and transplant on a canning line.
• Lift and carry various sizes of pots for set-down and order assembly.
• Perform all duties carefully to avoid any damage to plants during all activities.
• Clear debris, tree stumps, brush, limbs, vines and other growth, as instructed.
• Application of chemical sprays on plants with appropriate training and under the supervision of a licensed applicator.
• Application of fertilizers and soil amendments in potted plants and field plantings.
• Use shovels, picks, mattocks and other hand tools to dig ditches or help in excavation.
• Assist with irrigating, laying new irrigation lines or fixing existing lines and spray/mist heads.
• Pull plants, tag, and assemble orders.
• Load and unload trucks.
• Drive tractor, forklift, and/or ATVs with appropriate training and certification.
• Collect, prepare, stick cuttings, grafting (with appropriate training) and potting in propagation.
• Workers will be required to stoop and/or bend over while performing farm labor such as weeding, irrigating, pruning, assembling, removing debris, etc.
There will be repetitive movements while performing most of the farm labor duties, for example assembling, sorting, pruning, shoveling, weeding, etc.
