- The operation is a multigenerational family farm producing corn, soybeans, hay, and cattle with an acreage of 4500. The operation utilizes a mix of new and old equipment, all of which is well-maintained. H2A Job duties will primarily be concerned with the growing and maintaining of row crops. Planting will be in the spring months, maintaining (i.e. spraying) will come in the summer, and harvest will come near the end of the term in the fall. Vertical tillage is the chief means of soil preparation and “conventional” planting and row spacing is used. The operation also produces a 1000 large round bale hay crop for consumption by the livestock herd. Round bale hay production is fully mechanized. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, drive farm trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment. The farm also operates a cow/calf herd. We raise calves to 600lbs at which point they are sent to market in July/August. In preparation for market, we will need employees to vaccinate, assist with and work cattle to get them ready for market. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
