- Job Duties:
- Workers will drill new farm irrigation wells, install well casing, and install well pumps. In
preparation, workers will start each day at the farm shop loading necessary
equipment, well pumps, and supplies onto the trucks for travel to predetermined farms
in the local and surrounding counties. Workers will drive trucks to haul tools, supplies,
or farm workers. During drilling aspect of this job workers will: travel to farmer's drill
site, unload equipment help set up the drilling equipment, haul water in a 4000 gallon
tank to well site. Workers will operate agricultural equipment such as skid-steers,
backhoes, tractors, shovels, and hand tools to move dirt before and after
drilling. Workers will connect drill pipe while drilling is in progress using bolts and hand
tools, remove drill pipe, install well casing and disassemble drilling equipment.
Workers installing well pumps will operate winches, pump hoists, cranes, and tractors
to lower the submersible or line shaft turbine pumps into place, workers will use chain
wrenches to make a secure connection between the well pipes and well pump. Once
pumps are in place workers will use chain wrenches to make a secure connection
between the well pipe and well pump. Experience with water well drilling equipment,
such as winches and pump hoists, heavy farm equipment such as backhoes and
tractors, and hand tools is helpful but not required. Clear brush and weeds by mower,
weed eater, or sling-blade to access all pumps and wells, as well as company owned
property. Workers will also wash and clean all trucks, equipment, and tools to prepare
for future use. All tools, equipment and supplies will be provided by the employer at no
cost.
