- Job Duties:
- Prepare soil for planting and harvesting vegetables and fruits. Including pepper, squash, tomato, watermelon, papaya, lime, banana, and plantain. The harvest season for the vegetables and fruits previously mentioned is between April and January. Field care, including but not limited to tying plants, staking, plants, pruning plants, cleaning drip emitters and microjets, removing plastic drip lines, removing dead plants, weed removal, cutting grass, pulling weeds, operating a weed eater, repairing pallets, drive tractors and other vehicles, and mechanical duties. The workers must be able to walk, sit, kneel down, push, pull, reach, lift and carry up to 75 pounds. Driving and operating motor vehicles and farm equipment will be required. Workers are required to work 8-hour shifts per day. A 10-hours shift could be requested but not required. Based on weather, field, and maturity conditions, working on Sabbath and/or Federal holidays could be required. Changes in working hours will be announced with anticipation by the manager. Regular attendance during the scheduled working day and/or work period is expected. Unsatisfactory attendance, including being late for work, excessive requests to leave early, quitting, working outside the scope of the H2A visa, disobeying housing and transportation agreements, etc.; may cause disciplinary actions, including the termination of the contract. Workers must notify their supervisors if they expect to be late or absent for the workday. Using personal phones is prohibited during work hours except for work-related calls or emergencies.
