Job Duties:

Work hours are 6:00am to 1:00pm (Monday-Saturday) with a one (1) hour unpaid lunch. Work in crawfish ponds to prepare the harvest, repair and/or prepare traps for distribution in ponds, distribute traps, bait traps, empty traps, pick traps up after harvest and prepare traps for storage and store traps. Perform general crawfish farm labor, including but not limited to shovel work, minor repair and maintenance of farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment. Workers must be physically able to perform all described work. Must be able to lift and carry up to 60 pounds. Workers must abide by all posted work and safety rules. Perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling materials. All tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the duties assigned are provided to the worker, without charge or deposit. Hours may fluctuate due to weather conditions or mechanical breakdowns but will not reduce the 3/4 guarantee over the life of the contract. Housing is provided at no cost for workers who cannot reasonably return to permanent residence at end of workday. Once hired, workers may be required to take a random drug test (at no cost to the worker), as part of fitness for duty and workers safety. Drug testing relates to safety assurance in a working environment. Testing positive or failure to comply with the random drug testing may result in immediate termination from employment. Possibility of work breakdown will not reduce workers guarantee over the life of the contract.
