Worker must maintain a U.S. commercial driver's license (CDL) or Licencia Federal de Conductor with air brake endorsement, valid medical certificate, and a clean driving record throughout employment and comply with applicable requirements of the United States Department of Transportation regulations.
CDL Driver, Transportation will be responsible for transportation of agricultural workers, in conjunction with a shellfish operation.
Driver will be responsible for the transportation of other workers to and from disclosed worksites. Driver will also be responsible for transportation of workers to and from town for weekly visits. Weekly stops may include, but are not limited to: grocery stores, banks, and places of worship. Must have a clean driving record. Must comply with all applicable requirements of the USDOT regulations. Must have no disqualifying factors under applicable law or employer's motor vehicle insurance policy. Disqualifying factors include but are not limited to: conviction for driving under the influence, driving while impaired or the occurrence of a serious at-fault accident. Employer uniformly conducts a post-employment DOT physical, background check, and motor vehicle records check to assess whether applicant has a clean driving record and is legally entitled to operate commercial motor vehicles in the United States. Driver must operate all equipment properly and in a manner that protects operator, other workers, the general public, the employer's products, and property. Failure to comply with safety requirements and operating instructions may result in disciplinary action up to and including immediate termination. Must check vehicles to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order. Must interact with roadway officials. Complete pre-trip/post-trip inspection and paperwork on vehicles. Clean/maintain lights, windows, mirrors, and vehicle exterior. Add engine oil and fuel as needed. Perform preventative maintenance. Must be able to drive in rain, snow, and other hazardous conditions as needed. Drive in both on-road (paved) and off-road conditions. May drive other vehicle types. Use GPS and/or maps to navigate to destinations. Read/comprehend traffic signage and directions. Worker may assist in loading and securing of tools and/or equipment in appropriate manner for transportation between worksites.
Driver will work closely with supervisors to coordinate arrival and departure times for locations within the standard work area. Supervisor(s) will provide instructions and directions to workers. Workers must be able to comprehend and follow instructions and communicate effectively with supervisors. Unusual, complex, or non-routine activities will be supervised. Workers expected to perform basic duties in a proficient manner without close supervision.
Additional Disclosures: Employer offers overtime pay at time and a half. Both US and visa holding workers will accrue paid sick leave. Sick leave will accrue at a rate of 4 hours per bi-weekly pay period and maxing out at 5 paid sick days per calendar year. Sick leave will not roll over and a doctor's note must be provided in order to used the sick pay.
Employer may request, but not require, workers to work more than the stated daily hours and/or on a worker's Sabbath or federal holidays. Workers will have an unpaid lunch break. Worker must report to work at designated time and place each day. Daily or weekly work schedule may vary due to weather, sunlight, temperature, crop conditions, and other factors. Employer will notify workers of any change to start time.
By nature of the work performed in the shellfish industry, work hours may vary by tide times. Tide times may affect start and end times by up to 2 hours each day. Workers will be notified in advance of any shift in schedule.
