Job Duties:
Operate and maintain farm equipment on a multi-operational farm. Workers will be required to perform any general farm labor related to including, but not limited to: weed control, irrigation, drainage, minor repair and maintenance of farm vehicles and equipment, field sanitation, etc. Workers have to be physically able to perform all duties described. We need an honest, dedicated and experienced worker. This individual must be hard-working, trustworthy, detail-oriented, flexible and reliable. Must have strong prioritization and time management skills and be able to work quickly without compromising safety or quality of work. This job requires some knowledge of the English language. Drug/alcohol/tobacco free work zone. Worker will receive 30 minute unpaid lunch break. Work is performed outdoors, exposed to weather; must be capable of doing physically strenuous labor for long hours, occasionally in extreme heat or cold. Variable weather conditions apply. Observe safe operating rules and follow employer's directions. Must have experience working with a chainsaw. Plant seedlings to reforest land by planting and cultivating. Monitoring diseases, invasive vines, pests, and overall health of trees and pastures. Use a variety of tools and equipment including, but not limited to, thinning/clearing/disposing of brush, hand-piling, digging and planting, spraying, raking, mowing, weedeating, trimming, sweeping, blowing, clearing land, repair fencing, washing, sanding, painting, polishing, removal of dead or diseased trees with a chain saws, etc. Effectively use a brush blade or other hand-held equipment, including chemical applicator, to remove excess vegetation. Protect from insects and disease by spraying trees or injecting with insecticides, fungicides, or herbicides to control weeds and insects. Identify and remove diseased or undesirable plant life upon approval from employer. Clear brush and debris from trails, roadsides, and any area where deemed by employer. Scale tall trees and remove limbs and carry heavy tools and safety gear. Maintain and improve the quality of pastures, grasses, gardens, and other plantings. Water and fertilize, spray, mow, trim, weedeat, use blower around all structures. Inspect, clean and maintain equipment to ensure that it safely operates properly before and after each use. Assist in controlled burn efforts. Help prevent and suppress forest fires with firebreaks, clear brush and debris from trails, roadsides. Feed, water, sort, care for horses including riding atop to evaluate pasture and timber conditions. Clean and maintain holding areas, barns, pastures and grounds. Pick up supplies as needed. Worker may also be exposed to hazards such as kicking/bucking horses, mosquitos, poisonous snakes and predators. Worker may be exposed to ragweed, goldenrod, honey bees, insecticides, herbicides, fungicides, or related chemicals. Must be able to drive in rain and other hazardous conditions as needed. Drive in both on-road (paved) and off-road conditions. May drive other vehicle types. Use GPS and/or maps to navigate to destinations. Must be able to read/comprehend traffic signage and directions. Workers will operate agricultural equipment to include, but not limited to tractor with loader and rear mounted attachments, pick-up truck, car, ATV’s, chainsaws, augers and the like. Operate tractors and farm implements required to plant, cultivate, haul and harvest timber and other crops; must manually hoist/stack hay bales; pick rocks, repair/replace fence in rough terrain.
