Job Duties:

The worker will have the task of planting, weeding, and harvesting produce. This will require the worker to be bent over several hours a day. The worker, in order to perform this type of work, must be physically capable of performing the tasks quickly and repetitively for several hours a day. The picker will have to walk down the rows of crops to harvest, and in the case of picking fruit, occasionally climb a step ladder. The employer will provide the tools necessary to do these jobs without cost to the employee. The employee will be required to pick the smaller produce in buckets that will be transported for sorting and marketing. The larger produce such as cantaloupe, watermelon, and pumpkins will be picked then tossed to the next employee until its placed on a truck or wagon. This required bending and lifting up to a 50-pound melon and tossing it to the next person. Workers also perform the post-harvest clean up in the fields, whether that's removing the plastic from the plant beds, the t-tape used to water them, or in the case of the tomatoes , removing the stakes used to support the plants. Pruning the fruit trees will be done as well as caring for bedding plants in the greenhouses, both early and late in the season. This type of work, involves working conditions that require tremendous stamina, a high level of physical activity in cold or extremely hot conditions in direct sunlight and in adverse weather such as rain. The work requires a high level of physical conditioning. Due to the type of work involved, if worker can not maintain the level of production set forth by the farmer, the worker will have to be terminated for being unable to complete the work as deemed in this order.
