- Job Duties:
- Our operation is very diverse. We have a large cattle operation, but we also farm a large amount of dryland crop acres including corn, wheat, sorghum, soybeans and hay. During the winter months, our full-time crew are able to take care of daily livestock requirements, but when spring comes, we have too much workload with tilling, planting , and tending to the different crops we grow. Also, at that time, we are giving cattle their spring vaccinations and taking them to summer pasture. That is why we need help Starting in April (tilling, fertilizing, and planting time) and ending in December (harvest ends). Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, spray fertilizer or pesticide solutions to control insects, fungus and weed growth, and diseases, using hand sprayers, manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery, mix specified materials or chemicals, and dump solutions, powders, or seeds into machinery, observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions, operate equipment to harvest crops, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment. During the summer employees will need to assist with vaccinating cattle and moving them to pastures. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
