Job Duties:

Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops such as hay; Tarp hay; Participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops; Repair and maintain farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment; Set up, repair, maintain, and operate irrigation equipment; Repair farm buildings, fences, and pastures; Clean shop and work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping; Record information about crops; Direct and monitor work during planting and harvesting of crops; Inform farm managers of crop progress; Identify plants, pests, and weeds; Load inputs and drive trucks to transport to fields, load crops and drive trucks to transport to fields and storage facilities such as elevators, bins, silos, piles/bags; Feel plants' leaves and note their coloring; Maintain inventory; Trap and destroy pests; Attend to live farm animals such as cattle including feeding, watering, sorting, processing; Haul and spread manure, fertilizer, and other materials to condition soil; Mix materials, dump solutions or seeds into planter or sprayer machinery; Attach implements using hand tools; Weigh containers and record weights; Guide products on conveyors to regulate flow through machines, discard rotten items.
