Job Duties:

On farms, for cucumbers and lettuce, engage in seasonal collection and optimization of essential on-farm data necessary to sustain seasonal hydroponic farming operations. Observe workers in the field and packhouse, identifying work that can be quantified, recorded, coded, and analyzed within farm management information system (MIS) to assist head of operations or growing to improve productivity. At farm, design, develop, and maintain user interfaces for mobile phones and PCs for entry of farm data corresponding to tasks such as harvesting, packing, chemical application, and other farm tasks related to scheduling, labor planning, food safety, and marketing. Train farm laborers on use of such interface to input relevant farm data. Continually refine data methodology and collection processes during season to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of farm operations. At farm, design, develop, and maintain application (apps) for farmworkers to input the results of their work based on the seasonal collection of crop samples, and the measurement or weighing of farm products. Seasonal data to be collected should facilitate preparation of farm data summaries, reports, or analyses with results, charts, or graphs to document findings and results. Test integration with field equipment on site, including ag-tech that surveys insect or plant disease based on farmworker examination of crop specimens to determine the presence of diseases or other problems. Ensure data refreshes and updates regularly, to include collection of such metrics as seasonal data on weight of harvest by crop, grade, and greenhouse, including amount harvested per crop per greenhouse session. Design, build, and maintain apps for similar seasonal farm data collection for packing commodities wholly produced by the farm. Design, develop, and maintain apps to collect data to inform studies on fertilizer application methods, schedules to meet crop needs, and measure environmental impact. Continuously maintain, update, and refine system components throughout the season to promote farm operational readiness, safety, and cleanliness. Design, develop, and maintain app to record real-time data to inform cultural methods or environmental controls for crops and improve overall productivity of farm. Perform field testing using specialized equipment. Contribute to the development of logs for orders, invoicing, food safety traceability data, and water chemistry data. Create records for cleaning, fertilizer use, and maintenance to ensure compliance with audit requirements. Prepare or present agricultural demonstrations based on work.

Special Requirements:

12 months of related experience in hydroponic agricultural required. Greenhouse vegetable experience preferable. Ability to work in hot greenhouse conditions. Must pass post-hire medical examination paid for by employer. Random drug tests are administered and paid for by employer.
