Job Duties:
Worker will be required to perform a variety of duties related to the production of mint, garlic, grass seed, filberts, clover, beans, and corn. The majority of the work activities during the overall contract period, however, will be related to agricultural equipment operation. Duties will include the following responsibilities: maintain, drive, attach, and operate farm implements/tractors/equipment to till soil, plant, cultivate, fertilize, and harvest crops (to include, but not limited to, swathers, combines, planters, charcoal planters; sprayers, and mowers); make minor mechanical adjustments and repairs on farm machinery; prepare fields, seed beds, containers, plastic growing beds, etc.; sow seed; walk behind equipment to ensure plant placement (unclog planter if necessary); use hand tools; observe general condition/crop nutrient/moisture requirements of crops/plants /trees and apply the appropriate care; mix and/or spray chemicals such as herbicides, fungicides, and pesticides (according to appropriate restrictive use laws, when/if applicable) by hand or machine; fill sprayer tank with water and chemicals; connect hoses and nozzles; drive machinery with implements to spray trees/crops; start motor and engage machinery such as sprayer agitator and pump; lift, push, and swing nozzles, hoses, and tubes to direct spray over designated area; spread fertilizer; pick up/handle/climb ladders; identify, trap, poison pests; mow/tend farm areas; dig with a shovel or machine; cover crop planting/seeding; drive, load/unload farm trucks and Ag exempt, non-CDL semi/10-wheel trucks; back trucks up in tight maneuvering conditions; climb in and out of tall trucks and various truck beds and/or trailers; operate tractor/truck/forklift to load/unload products; work with augers, gas motors, generators and electrical cords; watch gauges, dials, or other indicators to ensure proper machine operation; adjust the controls of a machine or a vehicle to exact positions; keep trucks in working order by performing small repairs and conducting daily general maintenance duties on mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment; align, set up, adjust, and test machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment; manipulate controls to set, activate, and adjust mechanisms on machinery; observe and listen to machinery operation to detect equipment malfunctions; maintain, clean, and repair equipment, supplies, and/or systems; guide harvester discharge spout over bins to load product on trailer; load/unload product/containers/pallets onto or off of trucks/wagons/trailers/field conveyors by hand or forklift; pickup and move bins/pallets with forklift; transport crops to market and/or storage facilities; alert equipment operator of equipment clogging/malfunctions; aid operator in correct machine performance; label and organize bins; gather crop by hand or machine; operate vehicle, motor bike, or all-terrain vehicle in the course of performing duties; direct and monitor the work of casual and seasonal help (crew lead); workers possessing the proper licensure may be asked to transport other farm workers.

Special Requirements:
Applicants must have 3 months of experience with equipment operation, irrigation, charcoal planting, and general farm work and provide the contact information of at least one reference who can verify experience and performance. Applicants hired must be able to obtain a valid drivers license as driving on public roads may be required. Worker must be able to take direction and understand basic instruction in English.
