Job Duties:
SHUTTLE DRIVER: Employee may drive a 78-passenger bus or a 20-passenger minibus to transport workers over the road. Employee must possess a valid standard driver’s license. Employee picks up workers from different housing sites/pick up points and take them to an assigned work site and at the end of the workday takes them back to the housing site/pick up point. Employee will also work in the assigned crew at the assigned worksite. Employee will transport workers once a week to local grocery stores or businesses to run errands. Employee will obey all traffic laws and comply with state and federal regulations. Employee will follow procedures and regulations to ensure passenger safety. Employee will perform regular maintenance inspections to ensure the vehicle is working properly and report any issues promptly. Employee will keep the vehicle clean. In accordance with company policy, employee may be requested to submit to random drug or alcohol tests at no cost to the worker. Failure to comply with the request or testing positive may result in immediate termination. PRUNING: Pruning numerous varieties of apple, pear, apricot, blueberry and cherry trees according to established company procedures based on the difference in the treatment of different varieties. Work will be performed on trees for long periods of time using a variety of pruning equipment including hand shears, hand loppers, power pruners, chainsaws, hand saws, and 10 ft. or 12 ft. ladders. Pruning may be done from the ground or a ladder up to 12 feet in height or from a motorized platform. Workers may be required to selectively prune only trees of a certain size and color as instructed by the crew boss. * Remove signs of diseased wood * Remove crossing branches * Remove any badly placed or spaced branches * Remove old water shoot branches * Thin branches where your tree is still overcrowded * Remove or shorten inward facing branches Dehorning * Spur pruning The Employer attests that all workers will be properly trained in the Worker Protections Standard (WPS) by qualified WPS trainers who have completed an EPA-approved Train-the-Trainer course pursuant to the Oregon Department of Agriculture.
