Job Duties:

Workers will perform assigned duties as instructed by their supervisor. Duties may vary from time to time. A worker may drive the watermelon bus in the field to the packing house, no license required. Packing house is on the farm with 100% of product belonging to Moore & Moore Farms. Perform manual labor to hand cut, pack, and re-pack watermelons in the field and in packing house. Duties also include cleaning, loading, and unloading harvested products from watermelon truck into packing house. Use hand tools such as: shovels, hoes, brooms, scissors, shears, and knives. Grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel and quality to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Weigh products or estimate their weight, visually or by feel. Place products in containers according to grade and mark grades on containers. Measure, weigh and count products and materials. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Workers may perform manual labor to pull plastic and weeds from the fields. Workers may drive forklift to load watermelons onto a trailer. Removal of irrigation equipment.

Special Requirements:

Must be 18 years or older. Employer may conduct criminal background check at the employers expense. Workers need 3 months experience in grading, sorting, and packing watermelon. All tools, supplies and equipment will be provided at no cost to workers. The majority of the day is spent on ones feet. Workers must be able to climb, stand, sit, stoop, squat, kneel, crouch, bend (from the waist), push, pull, reach, and lift. Lifting Requirement is 5 - 60 lbs. Worker must be able to withstand working in the direct sunlight and weather conditions ranging from hot and humid weather, moderate rain and cold while performing their required job duties. Workers should come prepared wearing appropriate clothing and footwear for the environmental and working conditions described. Cell phone can only be used during breaks, emergencies, and communicate with supervisor when needed. Must assist with all Good Agricultural Practices policies. The workers must be able to cut an average of 4.3 buses
