Job Duties:
Farmworkers and laborers, Crop, Nursery and Greenhouse (45-2092).Worker will pick, clean, grade, sort, pack and load apples. Workers will hand harvest apples to quality standards. Workers will be required to selectively pick only fruit of a certain color and/or size as instructed by Management/Crew Leader. Workers may also be required to stem clip the fruit. Workers must be able to pick and dump fruit without stem pulls, punctures, bruising or other damage which diminishes quality. Worker must be able to pick up, use and safely handle an orchard ladder. Workers may be asked to sort out produce that does not meet quality grade. All workers are required to follow common sanitary practices at all times. Work assignments will be made at the sole discretion of the employer on seasonal maintenance of the orchard. Workers will be expected to perform basic duties in a timely and proficient manner without close supervision. Workers must follow all safety precautions and all Food Safety and Employee Health and Hygiene policies; this includes proper hand washing procedures. Workers may use agricultural equipment, vehicles and hand tools such as shovels, machetes, hoes, hammers, shears, hand saws, knives and backpack sprayers, orchard truck, 4-wheelers, ATV's, orchard tractors, planters, mowers, plows, sprayers, cultivators, forks lifts, skid loaders, shears, chain saws, motorized platform. As the need arises, must operate agricultural equipment, vehicles and tools safely. Before any worker is required to operate any farm equipment, vehicle and or hand tools, the worker will be instructed in the proper and safe operation of applicable equipment, vehicles or tools, for the purpose of tilling soil, mowing grass, cutting brush, planting young trees and plants, staging and moving produce for transportation, spraying, apply pesticides, herbicides, and fertilizers to crops, packing, sorting, weeding or hoeing, cleaning farm buildings, grounds, Tree counting, cleaning and sanitizing, harvesting and packing equipment, bin and pallet repair, orchard clean-up. Though not a hiring requirement, if a worker drives the period of employment then at the time of operating the company vehicle the driver must possess a valid driver's license issued by the U.S. state or foreign equivalent to operate the company vehicle. Employer may require worker to drive to and from the worksites. Workers will be required to operate company vehicles, tractors and equipment according to instructions and in a manner that protects the operator, other workers, trees, crops, and equipment. Use of personal cell phone or other personal electronic device during working hours strictly prohibited except for work-related calls or emergencies. Workers will be required to attend an orientation on workplace rules, policies and safety information prior to beginning work on or after the date of need. Workers should be able to work on their feet in bent positions for long periods of time. Work requires repetitive movements with extensive walking being able to lift 50 lbs. Work is to be done for long periods of time. While performing duties of this job, workers are regularly exposed to outdoor weather conditions including dust. Workers must obey all safety rule and basic instructions and be able to recognize, understand and comply with safety, pesticide warning re-entry and other essential postings. Workers must wear all required and assigned personal protective equipment when required. Workers must report for work wearing work clothes and boots or other durable footwear. Workers may also transport harvest fruit from employer owned orchards to employer owned packing facility with a NON CDL truck, trailer, or tractor as part of daily responsibilities.
