Job Duties:
This position will largely mirror the position defined by US Bureau of Labor Statistics as SOC 49-3041. The Farm Equipment mechanic will diagnose, adjust, repair, or overhaul farm machinery and vehicles such as tractors, tractors attachments, harvesters, water pumps, trailers used to move the equipment, and other machinery that is used for the day to day functions of the farm we provide farm labor to. The Farm Equipment Mechanic will carry out diagnostics, repairs, or other required work related to the equipment at either at the farm's warehouse, under covered buildings located on fields, or at other times in the middle of the fields where the equipment happens to fail or require repair. S&S Harvesting Inc will provide the required tools for the repairs. The type of repairs will include but are not limited to fixing broken large water pumps, repair varying types and sizes of tractors, and trailers that are used to move the farm equipment, repair chainsaws, repair tillers, repair large mowers, and other equipment used on the farm. The Farm Equipment Mechanic will also be expected to help maintain the aforementioned equipment, tools, and machinery in good maintenance. Additionally, the Farm Equipment Mechanic will also be expected to be available to carry out other tasks that relate to the planting, growing and picking of produce as a farmworker. This part of the job mirrors the position labeled by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics as SOC 45-2092 Farmworkers and Laborers. The Farm Equipment Mechanic will be paid the same rate that corresponds with the Farm Equipment position, or whichever has a higher hourly rate pay. The Farm Equipment Mechanic may only be asked to do Farmworker duties if there is no equipment that needs repair. As a Farmworker, the worker can expect the following: Help plant, grown and pick crops. The crops include different varieties of tomatoes, peppers, zucchini, squash, eggplant, cucumber, and watermelon. Workers will have to help plant, irrigate, and maintain crops in good health. Farmworkers need to learn and help drive stakes into the ground, learn to help maintain plants in good health. Farmworkers will need to learn how to distinguish between crops. Workers will then have to help harvest the crops. Workers will be expected to do which ever task they are assigned to so long as it falls within their duties.
