- Job Duties:
- General worker needed for soybeans and sugar cane. Work includes driving farm machinery, the operation of tractors, tractor-drawn
machinery, and self-propelled machinery used for plowing, tilling, harrowing, applying fertilizers, herbicides, and pesticides to crops;
plant, cultivate and harvest crops. Cut the sugar cane with machetes into segments, load the wagons with sugar cane stalks. May work in groups to plant sugarcane in rows while walking/following moving cart. Field preparation includes manual shoveling and weeding, spot spraying, transplanting, and general farm work. Helps repair and maintain grain bins, buildings, equipment (farm, mechanical, and
vehicle), farms, fences, fields, irrigation, dams, ponds, properties, roads, and storage. Clean and load harvested crops, unload trucks,
transport to containers, dryers or mills. The worker must be able to lift and carry 50 lbs. Monday through Friday, some Saturdays or
Sundays, work in excess of 40 hours may vary. Employees may be compensated above the hourly rate, this decision to pay above the
hourly rate will be made by the employer, basing its decision on factors including the individual's performance and work history. Allergies to ragweed, goldenrod, insect spray, pesticides and related chemicals, etc., could affect the farmhand's ability to work. The employer may require a random drug test after hiring, on suspicion, or after an accident at no cost to the employee. A positive test result or refusal to comply may result in immediate termination of employment. The job includes bending, lifting, and working outside in inclement weather. You must have 3 months of experience in a similar position.
