- Job Duties:
- Worker must possess the physical strength and endurance (ability to continue or last) to repeat the harvest process though out the workday, working quickly and skillfully to perform activities assigned during that activity. Workers must work at a sustained (continuing for an extended period of time without interruption), vigorous pace (quick and steady) and make bona fide efforts (made in earnest intent) to work efficiently (performing or functions in the best possible manner with the least waste of time and effort) and consistently (same way for a long time) that are reasonable under the climatic and other working conditions, Workers may not leave trash, or other discarded items in work areas or vehicles but must dispose of such items in provided receptacles. Workers must wash hands with soap and water after all bathroom and meal breaks. Allergies to varieties of ragweed, goldenrod, insecticides, related agricultural chemicals, etc., may affect worker’s ability to perform the work described herein.
Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities or the packing facility for packing operations.
Crops: Corn, Soybeans, Wheat, Popcorn, Rye, Oats, Cover Crop Seed, Strawberries, and Rape Seed.
Workers will perform various duties associated with growing the above listed crops including planting, maintaining and harvesting row crops. Workers will also routine farm maintenance such as mowing, weed eating and landscaping. Workers will perform general mechanic work on farm equipment and vehicles. Workers will operate farm equipment and farm implements, washing and cleaning of farm machinery, vehicles and implements. Workers will assist in maintaining, moving and operating irrigation systems. Workers will lift bags, chemical jugs etc. weighting 50 lbs. Workers will perform shop cleaning including seeping, washing, dumping of trash. Workers will drive tender truck to assist with the loading of chemicals in the sprayer from field to field. They will assist in loading of chemicals in sprayer. Workers will drive a semi-truck to haul grain from the field to grain setup and to haul grain to the elevators during and after harvest. Workers will operate the seed cleaner and assist in bagging cover crop seed and seed soybeans. Workers will assist with local levee maintenance when needed.
Equipment Operation During Field Operations
During field operations workers may be required to drive a trucks, tractors, forklifts, and other farm equipment as an incidental job duty. Workers will be instructed in the safety and operation of the equipment before driving. Workers will perform general maintenance on farm related equipment and/or vehicles. All equipment should be driven in a manner to protect operator, other workers, products, trees, crops, and equipment. Repeated failure to obey safety requirements and operating instructions may result in termination.
Farm, and Field Sanitation: All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors and other farm sanitation duties.
During certain duties, workers may be required to work in teams to accomplish a certain task. When engage in teamwork activities workers must coordinate with other members of the team to accomplish the task.
