Job Duties:
Manually plant, cultivate, harvest, grade, sort, and pack produce including spinach, kale, turnips, mustards, collards, lettuce, leeks, cabbage, cauliflower, broccoli, cantaloupe, strawberries, squash, peppers, eggplant, cucumbers, tomatoes, tomatillos, and sweet corn. Plant, cultivate and harvest cotton and peanuts by machine. Grade, sort, or classify produce and seedlings by size, weight, color, or condition to ensure correct processing and usage. Discard inferior or defective products and/or foreign matter and place acceptable products in containers for further processing. Crates will be assembled to contain produce. Produce will be hand packed into crates. Crates will be closed, tied, pushed down trailer and loaded for transport. Mark and label containers. Measure, weigh, and count products and materials or estimate, visually or by feel. Place products in assigned containers. Use hand tools to pull, move, and sort product, materials, containers, and orders. Workers must use care when grading and packing not to damage or bruise produce. When working with the mule train, workers must select harvestable produce based on correct size, maturity and quality and toss produce into trays located on the trailer. Load and unload containers onto trucks or trailers. Record packing information. Hand pack produce and seedlings. Examine and inspect containers, materials, and products to ensure that packing specifications are met. Remove completed or defective products and place in assigned area. Seal containers. Unstack trays from pallets and place on a belt to wash product. Move washed product to belt for sanitation. Load materials and products into package processing equipment. Assemble cartons, crates and containers using hand tools. Stack wrapped trays on pallets to be moved into storage or taken to seed room. Load trays on conveyer belts to be packed with dirt for product to be sown by hand or machine. Stack and wrap trays on pallets for transport. Move and unload pallets. Water and/or fertilize trays with sprayers. Pull developed plants according to supervisors instruction and pack into boxes, place tray in box or load trays on special trailers for transport. Transplant as needed. Clean containers, materials, supplies, and work areas using cleaning solutions and hand tools. Record information about product or packaging on specific forms. Identify plants, pests, and weeds to determine the selection and application of pesticides and fertilizers. Apply herbicides, fertilizers, and pesticides. Till soil, transplant, stake and string vegetables, weed, thin and prune crops. Haul and spread topsoil, fertilizer, peat moss and materials to condition soil using wheelbarrows or carts and shovels. Prepare land for planting using equipment to clear and level fields, till soil and manually pick up roots. Operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow, and fertilize soil or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops. Operate, maintain, and repair farm vehicles, implements, and mechanical equipment including tractors, tractor drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery. Operate tractors, farm vehicles and equipment including operation with GPS guidance and navigation.

Special Requirements:
Two months verifiable farm work experience harvesting cole crops required. Most job duties require workers to work in extremely hot, cold and/or wet weather and perform prolonged standing, walking, reaching, stooping, bending, pushing, pulling, and heavy lifting and carrying of up to 50 lbs. Employer is a drug-free workplace. Drug testing is conducted post-hire at the employer's expense and is not part of the interview process. Employee can be drug tested if drug use is suspected or after any work-related accident or vehicle accident
