Job Duties:
The worker will perform job duties as assigned by supervisor. They will vary from time to time depending on crop ripening and weather. The cotton ginning season is temporary and will last from October to January. The worker must be able to work outside for 6 hours a day in all kinds of weather including, but not limited to extreme cold, hot, and humid conditions, direct sunlight, and rain. Workers must have the required physical strength and endurance to repeat the process rapidly and skillfully involved in this type of work. Workers will perform prolonged walking, bending, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying 0-75 lbs. Due to the nature of this type of work, there will be a Probationary Period of six (6) days beginning on the first day of employment for the employee to acclimate to the job specifications listed under the Job Descriptions and Requirements. The worker will be given specific instructions as to how to properly perform the work specified in the Job Description and Requirements Section on the first day of work. Workers who do not perform the work as specified, may be terminated. Cotton Ginning- The workers will maintain grounds, maintain cotton gin cleanliness (sweeping, raking, wiping down equipment), operate forklifts, feed module (unwrap raw cotton), roll module covers, drive yard trucks, unload cotton (running front end loader), operate mote press, operate bale bagger and samples. The workers will work in all general labor related to cotton gin press and sample cotton, module feed, raking loose cotton, transporting cotton on the yard, and clean area around gin. Peanut Packing- The worker will sort through and remove damaged or bad peanuts coming from the peanut shelling and packing line. The good peanuts are bagged in large totes by machines. The workers at the end of the bagging machines will tie the tote bags before they are taken to the dry or cold holding shed by forklifts. The worker must safely operate the shelling plant equipment, perform preventive maintenance, repairs, and operate machinery and assist with all peanut sheller and packing shed operations.
