- Job Duties:
- We confine our cattle for winter calving. Once confined, cattle need to be cared for, fed, watered, and check on daily. Employee will work with cattle and assist with calving. Job duties will include: operate tractors with feed wagon, inspect, adjust, and complete routine checks on equipment, clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, drive pickup trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals, examine animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and to check physical characteristics, such as rate of weight gain, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and corrals, mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions, shift animals between grazing areas to ensure that they have sufficient access to food, care for animals, clean equipment or facilities, examine animals to detect illness, injury or other problems, operate farming equipment, treat animal injuries or illnesses.
Once the calves are all born and weather has warmed up in April the cattle will be released to pastures and no further assistance or care for cattle will be needed. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer?s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer?s discretion.
