Job Duties:
The field worker will perform the following duties on the field:   MACHINE OPERATOR   • The Machine Operator is responsible for the safe and proper operation of company harvesting machines in the field including, daily maintenance inspections, basic adjustments, and reporting maintenance and mechanical issues to their supervisor.   • Warm up and pre-inspect machine at the start of each day.  • Follow supervisors instructions.  • Thoroughly inspect the machine on all points required by the company and be ready for the harvest crew when they arrive.  • Start-up, operate, and shut-down the machine per company guidelines.  • Repair hydraulic hoses, change or replace nozzles and ensure proper oil levels while following safe machine shut-off procedures.  • Listen to the machine operation and be aware of audio indications of mechanical problems.  • Report possible mechanical issues to the supervisor immediately.  • Report unsafe or damaged equipment to supervisor immediately.  • Always be aware of the people working on the machine and on the ground to avoid accidents.  • Move equipment carefully when entering and exiting the field.  • Prolonged sitting throughout shift.  Some walking and standing on uneven ground and in leafy rows with debris.   • Ensure that all Food Safety policies are followed.   • Ensure that all Safety procedures are followed to reduce the risk of any type of injury to either the employee or others.   • Communicate with harvest supervisors and co-workers respectfully and professionally  • Participate in safety trainings, orientations and all other company meetings as required  • Report all injuries to supervisor immediately regardless of how slight they might seem   • Reports to work 1-1½ hour before crew arrives to setup materials for the start of day, and remains after crew departs for cleanup.    HARVEST HELPER/TRACTOR DRIVER  • The Harvest Helper is responsible for helping with daily setup before the crews’ arrival.  • PTI Helper • Removing sprinklers from the field; and removing trash or debris from field.  • Always be aware of the people working on the ground to avoid accidents.  • Move equipment carefully when entering and exiting the field.  • Make sure loads are securely tied for transport.  • Prolonged sitting throughout shift.  Some walking and standing on uneven ground and in leafy rows with debris.   • Ensure that all Food Safety policies are followed.   • Ensure that all Safety procedures are followed to reduce the risk of any type of injury to either the employee or others.   • Communicate with harvest supervisors and co-workers respectfully and professionally  • Participate in safety trainings, orientations and all other company meetings as required  • Report all injuries to supervisor immediately regardless of how slight they might seem   • Reports to work 1-1½ hour before crew arrives to setup materials for the start of day, and remains after crew departs for cleanup.    All machines/tractors have a gross weight capacity under 26,001 lobs and do NOT require a commercial drivers license to operate.

Special Requirements:
1 month of experience in vegetable harvest in any of the commodities listed. Specific requirements include lifting up to 50 pounds frequently and able to use hand tools, including cutting knives. Must be able to work under conditions where skin and clothing become heavily soiled with mud, water, grease, etc. Must be able to work outdoors in inclement weather conditions, including rain, cold, high winds, etc. Work involves frequent bending and working in bent or stooped positions. Must be able to walk and stand up extensively. No smoking, alcohol, firearms in the field or residential housing.
