- Job Duties:
- Workers will machine harvest both peanuts and cotton. During the ginning of the cotton, workers may be required to operate various pieces of equipment, including, but not limited to, ball hoister, skid steer, tractors, wagons, forklift and cotton mechanical equipment. Will repair and maintain equipment. May operate farm pick-up truck to travel to town to pick-up parts. Workers will load cotton modules in the gin yard and bring them to the feeder, un-tarp modules.
Workers will bag the bale of cotton and place a tag on the bag, move bales from press to bale slab. Load cotton modules, bring them to the feeder, feed wires on press, un-tarp modules, move bales from press to bale slab. Workers will remove a sample of the cotton from each bale per their instructions. Will perform work in the gin that is includes the following job duties such as refilling supplies, cleaning lint filters, sweeping floors, assisting the gin operator with repairs, making repairs to the equipment, clearing blockages, removing trash buildup, picking up cotton on yard. Shed Sanitation: All workers will be responsible for picking up trash, cleaning bathrooms, sweeping floors and other farm and shed sanitation duties.
Workers will operate farm equipment for loading and unloading peanuts into trailers in the fields; pulling samples, dumping peanuts on elevator leg; manual labor to repair; service equipment; perform routine maintenance; grease fillings, check belt chain and tension. All these jobs will be done under extreme sunlight; stopping, bending, and heavy lifting will be required of the workers.
