Greenhouse: Workers will perform all tasks involved in the planting, cutting and expanding of Two Taters, LLC’s greenhouse crops. This includes sweet potatoes: bedding, cutting slips, transplanting slips, pulling and/or chopping weeds, harvesting and hand grading seed sweet potatoes.
Greenhouse primary duties and responsibilities
1. Place liner in greenhouse plant tables and fill tables with mulch
2. Trim sweet potato slips. Transplant slips into prepared tables.
3. Cut sweet potato slips, stack slips into cartons, load cartons onto truck.
4. Maintain a clean and safe work area
5. Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues
6. Notify supervisor of any safety and/or food safety violations.
7. Clean work area after work assignments are completed.
8. Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
Physical environment/working conditions: This position in the greenhouse involves stopping, bending, kneeling, standing, walking, and lifting (up to 70lbs) for long periods of time throughout the day. Work environment can vary depending upon various factors including weather. Generally, the work environment will be dirty, dusty and/or damp, with extreme temperature fluctuations according to the season.
Packing for resale: Workers will perform all tasks involved in the production to Two Taters, LLC’s products. This includes grading, sorting, and packaging seed sweet potatoes. Follow Standard work methods and practice safe work habits to ensure production is as efficient and safe as possible. Follow all standard food safety methods and practices to ensure product is handled in clean and safe manner.
Greenhouse Product Packing primary duties and responsibilities:
1. Sort sweet potatoes according to customers’ specification by removing rotten, damaged and out-of-specification sweet potatoes by hand.
2. Fold, fill and stack cardboard boxes.
3. Maintain a clean and safe work area.
4. Notify supervisor of any mechanical or material issues.
5. Notify supervisor of any safety and/or food safety violations.
6. Clean work area after work assignments are completed.
7. Perform other related duties and assignments as required.
8. All production workers are expected to be available to work in all areas of production.
Physical environment/working conditions: This position in the greenhouse involves standing, walking, lifting for long periods of time throughout the day. Work environment can vary depending upon various factors including weather. Generally, the work environment will be dirty, dusty and/or damp, with extreme temperature fluctuations according to the season.
Workers will install and maintain irrigation systems and water lines. Move and install irrigation pipes and equipment, remove drip tubing or install drip tubing, dig and maintain ditches.
Sanitation Requirements: For food and general personal safety purposes, all workers will be required and expected to follow common sanitary practices at all times. This is particularly critical when hand harvesting crops for human consumption. Employees are required to cleanse their hands by washing them thoroughly with soap and water after using the bathroom and before entering the fields for harvest activities. All workers must report all injuries and illnesses to their employer. As well any communicable disease such as but not limited to diarrhea, or any other infectious disease or illness. Workers shall report immediately any cuts or abrasions that cause open bleeding.
