Job Duties:
The workers will perform tasks in line with castrating, drenching, shearing, and weaning calves and lambs. General supervision will be provided by ranch owner. Range workers will leave the ranch headquarters each morning to herd the livestock during the day and will be responsible for securing the livestock in pins overnight before returning to the ranch headquarters. Range duties will include: herding sheep to pastures for grazing; sorting and rounding up strays; protecting and defending livestock from predators and from eating poisonous or noxious plants; riding horses to move livestock (if riding horse, the worker must be able to handle a horse to ensure the safety of the worker, co-workers and livestock); manually restraining livestock when required; caring for all livestock and other domestic animals used on the range to help with herding. Workers must herd sheep into localized pins each night for protection against coyotes and other dangers. Must be able to find and maintain bearings to/from grazing areas. Workers must be willing and able to perform tasks capably and efficiently without close supervision. Duties that will be performed at the ranch headquarters less than 50% of the time include: cleaning stalls, pens and other equipment used for the production of sheep, as well as maintaining trucks and fences. Workers will maintain water systems, observe range conditions, and inspect/repair fencing used to contain the herd.

Special Requirements:
Workers must be able to lift and carry items weighing up to 100 lbs. A minimum 6 months of experience working with sheep is required. The employer will provide cellphones for electronic communication without charge or deposit to workers for the entire period of employment. Workers may use their personal cellphone as a means of communication while herding livestock. If using a personal cellphone, the employer will provide a stipend to cover the cost of each workers phone bill throughout the period of employment. The employer will provide, at minimum, 4.5 gallons of water, each day, for each worker, free of charge.
