Job Duties:
• Sort, weigh, transport unmanufactured grain to and from different barns (and to the feedmill) •Transport hogs to slaughter • Develop and maintain knowledge of the agricultural commodities (grain)handled at the location and comply with company policy and government regulations pertaining to commodities.• Routinely monitor and inspect animals and vaccinate the hogs during the vaccination season • Perform grain(warehouse feed mill and) and livestock farm work including driving loader, loading/unloading inventory, forklift operation, and general maintenance of farm machinery and agricultural production tools (both at the feedmill and) at various farm sites owned by Kenneth & Loretta Ymker, the owners of the farm • Keep all of the farm work areas including warehouse, shed, feed room, livestock facilities, etc. in a clean, orderly and safe condition. • Barn maintenance housekeeping duties for the farm and agricultural areas such as sweeping, shoveling, power washing, snow removal scraping and cleaning up spills. Complete appropriate recordkeeping related to the agricultural commodities. • Ability to operate computer/software to grind grain and operate grain grinding machine. • Pick-up feed for animals and ability to coordinate loading of truck with agricultural commodities (grain) with the delivery route to farms and animals. • Prepare trucks for loading/unloading of grain and related farm commodities, which may require sampling, loosening large nuts, opening hatches, and attaching and/or detaching flexible hoses. • Load and unload raw grain from the farm locations onto trucks or other vehicles which may require using heavy or light duty machinery/equipment - may include bulk and or packaged material for farms. • Physically lift and carry bags or other packaged product of grain and other farm commodities. •Control and monitor all agricultural load out functions. • Understand and operate scale system keeping appropriate agricultural, commodity and animal weight records. • Conduct and properly record daily, weekly and monthly farm maintenance tasks including but not limited to lubrication of pumps, valves, and loading arms of the agricultural machinery both in the fields and in the barns, on the farm site and warehouses. Inspect in-use equipment looking for seeps and leaks of process equipment. • Monitor and maintain quality of inventory (may include blended, bulk or packaged product) and other products for the hogs and other animals. • Promptly report any farm (customer complaints)repair or maintenance needs, or safety concerns to supervisor. Maintain and promote a strong safety culture and follow all safety policies, procedures, and regulations. Identify and communicate workplace hazards and correct or seek assistance in correcting unsafe actions or conditions. • Maintain, repair, deliver and return any moved equipment of feeders to ensure the hogs and farm animals can be appropriately fed. •Ability to operate machinery such as loaders, augers, conveyors, tractors, forklift, skid loader, lawn mowers, etc. all related to the smooth and efficient agricultural production • Perform other duties as needed or assigned to ensure agricultural facility operates smoothly, grain is properly ground and mixed, mill is produced, animals are properly fed and animal health and welfare ensured.
