Job Duties:
I am a beginning farmer who raises heifers and steers. In late fall, the cattle come home from pasture and need to be fed and tended to every day during the winter. The heifers will calve in February and March. Starting in late spring, the cattle will go out to pasture and graze. I will not need the extra help during the summer months while the cattle are in the pasture. Job duties will include cleaning stalls, pens, and equipment using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps; driving trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals; examining animals to detect illness, injury, or disease, and checking physical characteristics such as rate of weight gain; feeding and watering livestock and monitoring food and water supplies; grooming, clipping, trimming, or castrating animals; docking ears and tails, or shearing coats to collect hair; herding livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, farm trucks, or other enclosures; inspecting, maintaining, and repairing equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences; providing medical treatment, such as administering medications and vaccinations, or arranging for veterinarians to provide more extensive treatment; segregating animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition; spraying livestock with disinfectants and insecticides, or dipping or bathing animals; caring for animals; cleaning equipment or facilities; examining animals to detect illness, injury, or other problems; treating animal injuries or illnesses; feeding cattle; monitoring the health of cattle; assisting with the birth of calves if needed; performing any duties required to ensure the health and safety of the cattle; keeping fences in safe condition. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion., Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.

Employer will conduct post-hire drug tests at no cost to the employee to enforce a drug free workplace policy. Failing a drug test will result in termination. Job requires exposure to extreme outdoor temperatures. Must be able to lift 100 lbs. Must have a regular driver's license. Requires 3 months farm experience.
