- Job Duties:
- Drive a tractor-trailer combination (Semi truck and grain hopper trailer) to transport grain such as soybean and corn from fields to bin for drying and storing. Also form bins to market and feed mill. Occasionally drivers will haul soybean meal and or bakery for storage or animal feed. Drivers will ensure vehicles’ mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment are in good working order. Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods when needed. Perform basic vehicle upkeep tasks, such as adding oil, fuel, or radiator fluid, checking tire pressures, cleaning and washing trucks. Load or unload trucks, or assist others in doing so, using special loading-related equipment or other necessary tools. During winter, workers will maintain farming equipment like skid-steer, tractors, semi-trucks, and trailers. General winter tasks will include snow removal, cleaning, drying, covering, and storing equipment.
