Job Duties:
We operate a farm where we grow corn, soybeans, tomatoes, pumpkins, watermelons, cucumbers, peppers, cantaloupe, squash, hay, and we also have a cow/calf operation. Job duties will include: prepare fields for planting, attach farm implements such as plows, discs, sprayers, or harvesters to tractors, using bolts and hand tools, operate tractors, planters, sprayers, seed drills, irrigation equipment, operate other farm equipment, engage in planting, weeding, spraying and/or harvesting activities, fertilize, dust, and spray crops, load and unload crops or materials, manually or using conveyors, forklifts, or transfer augers, load hoppers, containers, or conveyors to feed machines with products, using forklifts, transfer augers, suction gates, shovels, or pitchforks, walk beside or ride on planting machines while inserting plants in planter mechanisms at specified intervals, attach equipment extensions or accessories, load crops and unload crops, operate equipment to harvest crops, drive pickup trucks to haul crops, supplies, and tools, inspect, adjust, and complete routine maintenance and repairs on equipment clean work areas and maintain grounds and landscaping, harvest fruits and vegetables by hand, harvest plants, and transplant or pot and label them, load agricultural products into trucks, and drive trucks to market or storage facilities, operate tractors, tractor-drawn machinery, and self-propelled machinery to plow, harrow and fertilize soil, or to plant, cultivate, spray and harvest crops, participate in the inspection, grading, sorting, storage, and post-harvest treatment of crops, plant, spray, weed, fertilize, water, and prune plants, shrubs, and trees, using gardening tools, clean equipment or facilities, confer with managers to make operational decisions, harvest agricultural products, load agricultural or forestry products for shipment, operate farming equipment, package agricultural products for shipment or further processing, perform manual agricultural, aquacultural, or horticultural tasks, plant crops, trees, or other plants, prepare land for agricultural use, sell agricultural products, sort forestry or agricultural materials, transport animals, crops, or equipment clean stalls, pens, and equipment, using disinfectant solutions, brushes, shovels, water hoses, or pumps, drive trucks, tractors, and other equipment to distribute feed to animals, feed and water livestock and monitor food and water supplies, herd livestock to pastures for grazing or to scales, trucks, or other enclosures, inspect, maintain, and repair equipment, machinery, buildings, pens, yards, and fences, mix feed, additives, and medicines in prescribed portions, move equipment, poultry, or livestock from one location to another, manually or using trucks or carts, patrol grazing lands on horseback or using all-terrain vehicles, perform duties related to livestock reproduction, such as breeding animals within appropriate timeframes, performing artificial inseminations, and helping with animal births, segregate animals according to weight, age, color, and physical condition, care for animals, clean equipment or facilities, maintain forestry, hunting, or agricultural equipment, operate farming equipment, package agricultural products for shipment or further processing, transport animals, crops, or equipment discard inferior or defective products or foreign matter, and place acceptable products in containers for further processing, grade and sort products according to factors such as color, species, length, width, appearance, feel, smell, and quality to ensure correct processing and usage, evaluate quality of plants or crops, and package agricultural products for shipment or further processing. Employer may provide pay increases for performance, longevity and/or experience at employer’s discretion. Employer may provide performance bonuses at the end of the contract at the employer’s discretion.
