- We need a seasonal employee to assist with all aspects of our farming operation. This includes land management for which the employee should be able to drive tractor and use a flail shredder to shred down cotton stocks for land preparation, drive a tractor for long periods of time for: plowing, shredding, cultivation, ripping ground (land preparation for the next season), do maintenance and emergency repairs on all tractors, equipment, trucks, trailers, implements, include tire replacement or repairs and drive an off-road machine (side by side) to spray fence lines or cut tree limbs down to help keep fences maintained and have knowledge of basic agriculture chemistry, chemical calculations and crop/soil management is plus. Assist with Irrigation: Must be able to walk pivots while they are running, you may be walking through mud, getting wet from sprinklers, getting muddy or dirty from the environment, clean out sprayer tips while pivot is running and discharging water, flush pivot system while pivot is running and discharging water, do maintenance on irrigation motors such as changing oil filters, air filters, refueling diesel tanks as needed, and complete emergency repairs and must give full effort to keep center pivots maintained to run properly during irrigation season. Must be able to physically loading/unloading large rolls of poly pipe out, pick up and dispose of used poly pipe, physically plug/unplug poly pipe for water flow for the crop as needed, be able to maintain irrigation rows with manual shovel and be able to rotate water as often as needed and work in the day-time heat. We use row (flood) water irrigation and center pivot irrigation for cotton during the summer months. Assist with Forage: Must be able to cut, rake, and bale hay with cab tractor and operate a large round baler, haul hay out of field with a tractor and trailer and put it into proper storage and shred the roadsides of properties and other grassy areas that are not farmed on the properties. Assist with harvesting: Must be able to drive tractor and operate grain cart to load trucks, operate our personal combine or other harvesting equipment as needed during harvest, do emergency repairs and routine maintenance on harvesting equipment, operate a grain auger to unload trucks and load grain into the storage bins, keep grain bins in proper shape such as insect control, cleaning, sweeping, applying sealant, hook up grain auger to tractor then set auger correctly for loading into grain bins and load/unload trucks with grain using a grain auger or grain cart. Assist with farm maintenance including build/repair fences, repair water lines/water troughs, repair gates as needed.
