Job Duties:
Prepare ponds for fingerlings: drain ponds to allow them to dry out by exposure to air. Drive tractors: prepare fields for planting crops, plant, cultivate and harvest soybeans; Remove aquatic weeds and level bottom to facilitate seining. Fill the ponds with water. Unload fingerlings and place in ponds. Monitor and correct oxygen levels in pond water, observe fish behavior and physical condition. Monitor water temperature, quality and oxygen levels in all ponds especially at night. Maintain pond areas by removing weeds, grass, etc. Monitor ponds for disease and predatory birds. Harvest food fish from ponds and loads fish onto trucks for transport. Wades in the pond to position net using a foot to keep the mud line of the net on bottom. Feed fish [hand or mechanical feeder] Performs typical farm and pond maintenance levee repair and maintenance, control predators, pull weeds, mow grass, clean and store equipment, etc. uses seines, dip nets, waders, gloves uses oxygen meter and/or chemical test kit. Able to swim and check screens on pumps for holes under water. Work outside in heat and cold, work in 4'-6 1/2' water in catfish pond. Handle live fish, some heavy lifting (50 pounds.) Will be required to work on repairing equipment including but not limited to electric paddle wheels, PTO driven paddle wheels, tractors, trucks, ATV’s, and oxygen monitoring systems. Will be required to monitor oxygen levels during night time hours, to drive tractors, trucks, forklift equipment, and ATV’s, to remove dead fish from ponds and bury, to fill tractors up with diesel fuel and check oil daily. Use arms and legs and move whole body walking in water, lifting, balancing, and stooping. Drive tractors with farm implements attached: prepare fields for planting crops, plant, cultivate and harvest soybeans; plant and tend to plots to control grass and weeds unload and store seeds and supplies; haul seeds, fuel to field. Perform general farm labor jobs: maintenance on farm equipment (clean, oil, repair); repair fences; repair and clean farm buildings (sheds, barns, etc.); mow areas around buildings and keep clean and free from debris; Alternative work includes general farm maintenance, cleaning shed areas, etc. Use hoes, shovels, wrenches, etc. Drive farm trucks.

Must be available for entire contract period. Able to perform all job duties. Able to operate tractors and other farm equipment. Able to work all shifts. 4e. Lift 50 pounds; spawning containers and feed. 4f. Work is performed outdoors and involves exposure to sun, rain, heat, cold, insects and other natural elements. 4g-4j. Seining requires use of arms, legs and moving whole body walking in water 4-4 1/2 feet deep, lifting, balancing, and stooping. Applicants must provide documents to complete INS Form I-9 if hired. Be available at time and place necessary to begin employment. (Feb Nov.) 1st Shift: Mon. Fri. 7 am - 4 pm {Sat. Sun. 7 am 1 pm. (primarily feeding)}: Seining ponds, pond preparation, feeding fish, selecting brood fish, collecting spawn, hatchery care, pond maintenance, monitoring ponds (May - October) 2nd Shift: Mon. Sun. 7 pm - 7 am; checking oxygen levels, water quality, there will be break periods
